The Firm

Peters & Company, Inc. PS is wholly owned by Stephen F. Peters CPA/PFS and registered in the State of Washington. The firm and employees provide consulting and compliance services in areas of financial and business management, investment management, accounting and taxation. In summary the firm does the following:

·Prepares, implements and monitors financial plans ·Establishes and monitors client's investment portfolio
·Develops estate and succession plans ·Evaluates life and disability insurance needs
·Minimizes income and estate taxes ·Compiles and reviews financial statements
·Prepares individual, estate, trust, partnership and corporate tax returns ·Prepares resident and nonresident alien individual tax filings

 

 

Recently, a new accounting service using Quickbooks has been announced. The firm can provide consulting to businesses to support their accounting system, or the the firm can perform the accounting service for the business.

 

 

The firm provides investment advice in the context of helping clients make financial plans and related decisions. The approach is to guide clients in a systematic decision making process that considers the interrelationship of competing choices.

 

The Fees

 

Fees are fixed and negotiated in advance of beginning the formal planning process. Fees are based on the amount of professional time and degree of expertise expected to be needed to complete the decision making process for each individual situation. Occasionally, fees will be billed based only on the time required to provide the required assistance. Hourly fees are billed at the rate of $ 100.00 or more. The applicable rate is disclosed before a service agreement is entered into. Fees for investment management services are based upon a percentage of asset value that is negotiated in advance.

Our Team

Stephen Peters

Steve Peters has been a sole practitioner since 1990. Prior to that he was Accounting Manager for Kasama and Company, a CPA firm in Bellevue, Washington. Also, he was a Staff Accountant for several CPA firms in Seattle, Washington. Additionally, he worked for the IRS as a Tax Auditor. Steve has a MS in Taxation at Golden Gate University, a BA in Business at Seattle University, and a BA in Economics at the University of Washington.

Steve's activity includes community development work with Northwest Harvest where he volunteers with his children sorting food in their warehouse in Kent on a regular basis. He is active on the Social Concerns Committee at St Louise Church in Bellevue helping those less fortunate. He is the past treasurer for the Autism Society of Washington which has chapters in many counties in Washington www.autismsocietyofwa.org. The Mission of the Society is to focus on meaningful participation and self-determination in all aspects of life for individuals on the autism spectrum, their families and to assure that people on the autism spectrum are treated with dignity and respect. He is also a member of the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club www.bbrc.net since 1993 and is active with the annual 5K Bellevue walk / Run and golf tournament in order to raise money for the local and international community in an effort to make the world a better place. This past year he was chairman of the major grants committee. The recipient of the $7,500 grant that was gratefully matched by the Rotary District 5030 for another $7,500 gives The New Bethlehem Family Day Center $15,000 to purchase a stove, a refrigerator, dishwasher, 2 washers & 2 dryers for the setup of their operations. The Family Day center will be able to assist up to 50 homeless daily with case management to get them back on the track to permanent housing. Steve lives in the Green Lake area of Seattle.

He has written a book "Strategies for Deferring and Shifting Income Taxes" published by Harcourt Brace 6/96.

Line Ghislaine Nya-Ngatchou

MBA Senior Staff Accountant, is passionate about accounting and finance. She has worked for Peters & Company Inc for over a year and is responsible for clients Local and Federal tax compliance. She also provides compilation of financial statements with Quick Books and general ledger reporting. Line is active in the community helping the world be a better place.

Line holds an MBA in financial management from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY. She has worked for international trade and industry ventures for local and international organizations to increase trade relations between the Pacific Northwest and Africa. Her past experience among others are, as the head of public relations of “Common People” a non profit organization that provided health assistance to underprivileged people in Cameroon. She led charitable giving drive which raised over $120,000.00. As a result of her leadership, over 650 tuberculosis patients were treated and 130 children received educational and medical support. Line is fluent in French, Italian and English.

Line's activity includes community development projects as well as sustainable development and access to essential services to poor people throughout the world. She is a multilingual professional with a Master’s Degree and experience in sustainable development with concentration in agricultural economics from Montpellier-France and a bachelor’s degree in Tropical Agronomy from the University of Florence-Italy. Line worked with women’s associations in rural areas of Burkina Faso, where she successfully formulated, and implemented strategic model to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Shea butter trade mark, and product quality certification. As a result of her research the data has been referenced in published articles on “Indication Géographique Protégée (IGP)” in Africa. She lives in Seattle on Capitol Hill with her husband.

Mary Beth Villani

Mary Beth Villani joined the firm as a Staff Accountant. Prior to this, she was a Systems Analyst for a variety of companies in Seattle and New York. She has a Bachelor of Arts from New York University.
